With education as a foundation and in partnership with other development organizations, ALAS facilitates preventative health-related projects aimed at improving the quality of life of rural Indigenous populations in Guatemala.
Presently, proposed projects include building family latrines, local health care personnel training, a medical emergency air evacuation system, the establishment of a small village diagnostic laboratory and the implementation of efficient stoves to minimize burn wounds and respiratory illnesses.
